Latest Saints News: Just In New Orleans Saints Top Experienced Star Confirm He Want To Leave

The New Orleans Saints have officially parted ways with safety Marcus Maye, confirming the release that had been anticipated since late last month. This strategic move by the Saints is expected to free up approximately $1.4 million in salary cap space. Maye, who joined the team in 2022 under a three-year contract valued at $28.5 million, has faced a challenging tenure in New Orleans marked by persistent injuries.

Throughout his two seasons with the Saints, Maye’s on-field contributions were limited to 17 games, during which he accumulated 97 total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 sack.

Unfortunately, his time in New Orleans was marred by setbacks, including a three-game suspension in September 2023 due to a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. To add to his challenges, Maye was placed on injured reserve on December 6th, 2023, following a shoulder injury. The decision to release Maye underscores the team’s commitment to managing their salary cap effectively while addressing performance and injury concerns.
