Jimmy Garoppolo of the Rams discloses the main reason he joined LA following the Raiders’ departure.
Jimmy Garoppolo has a lot of stuff to choose from with the Rams.
Next season, Jimmy Garoppolo will embark on a new chapter in his career by joining the Los Angeles Rams. After playing for the San Francisco 49ers for six seasons prior, Garoppolo was a member of the Las Vegas Raiders during the previous campaign. Garoppolo played against the Rams frequently while he was with the 49ers because they were in the same division. He knows the team quite well.
Even if Jimmy Garoppolo wasn’t in the NFC West for the season in between, it’s always significant to go to a different team in the same division. Now that he plays for the Rams, Garoppolo will get to face his old team twice a year. What Garoppolo was searching for was in Los Angeles.
In a video that the Rams released, Garoppolo stated, “I’ve been going against them for so many years, I knew how good this defense was, the offense can put up points, it was a good situation.” That played a significant role in my choice. All I was looking for was a decent environment and kind people, and I believe I have both here.
Garoppolo concluded the previous season with the Raiders with a 110-169 passing record in seven games. He completed his pass play with 1,205 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. Even though he is 32 years old and clearly beyond his peak, he is still a valuable depth option at quarterback.
After a poor performance the year before, the Rams are looking to build on their success this past season and make the playoffs again next year. Only a few seasons ago, Los Angeles won a Super Bowl, and they intend to return to the top shortly. This past season, they were defeated on the road by the Detroit Lions in the first round.
