A moving farewell to the Saints and New Orleans is written by Jameis Winston.
Even though Jameis Winston is no longer with the New Orleans Saints, he sent off his playing career with one more show of appreciation for the city and its residents.
Few sportsmen have cultivated a stronger bond with a community than Jameis Winston did with New Orleans during his Saints tenure. Winston began his career as an opponent of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but in 2023 he joined the Saints and assiduously assimilated into the city’s culture. He realized that New Orleans would return the favor if you showed it love.
Regretfully, he signed with the Cleveland Browns, ending his playing career in the city after four seasons with the Saints. He will always be devoted to New Orleans and its people, though. In a statement that he shared on social media, he made that very apparent.
Winston shared a video on social media featuring his best moments while representing the Black & Gold, captioned “Thank You NOLA” with a heart and the hashtag #DreamForever. Winston read the farewell letter he wrote to New Orleans in the second part of the film.
Jameis Winston: New Orleans, I adore you.
Winston stated from the beginning that the Superdome had his first victory, making it a very memorable venue for him. He continued by thanking all of the people who had contributed to his four incredible years, including his teammates, coaches, support staff, and, of course, the supporters. Moving past football, Winston expressed his gratitude for having experienced New Orleans’s festivals, Mardi Gras, second lines, music, food, and overall distinctive culture.
He concluded by expressing his unwavering affection for New Orleans and his belief that Jaboo is still very much alive in the city.
These kinds of remarks are usually easy to ignore, but Winston’s actions during the past four years demonstrate that he meant every word. Over the previous four seasons, Winston started just 10 games, but he still had a unique connection to the town. That is a result of his extensive city travels. Winston moved through New Orleans innumerable times, whether it was at a church, a festival, or a basketball game. It was always pure love.
