Odell Beckham Jr. is best suited for the New Orleans Saints.
Odell Beckham Jr. is a terrific wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, according to Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports, but the team could use another option at the position.
Can you imagine five or six years ago referring to Beckham as a “auxiliary option”? Still, that’s precisely who he is at this point in his career.
Beckham would be the third receiver on the Saints roster if he decides to sign, as Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave currently hold that position.
Since Beckham played NCAA football at LSU and is originally from New Orleans, Benjamin points out that returning to Louisiana would seem like a reasonable possibility.
Is Beckham interested in joining a team that is obviously not a Super Bowl contender?
In the 2021–2022 season, Beckham earned a championship while playing for the Los Angeles Rams. Even yet, you would think he would prefer to challenge for another championship rather than just sign with a team that, as a No. 3 choice, has little to no chance of winning.
The 31-year-old was a major disappointment for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2023 season, appearing in 14 games and recording just 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns.
It becomes very obvious at this point that Beckham is a No. 3 man on a respectable contender after posting those stats while ranking as the Ravens’ No. 2 receiver behind Zay Flowers.
Because of his rapid decline and injury history, which has been very inconsistent, there has been very little interest in Beckham in free agency. Nor is the luggage he carries particularly desirable.
But it appears certain that a competitor will knock on Beckham’s door this offseason and make him an offer. Would the San Francisco 49ers or Houston Texans consider him? Or maybe the Detroit Lions will see him as Josh Reynolds’ replacement?
We’ll follow Odell Beckham Jr.’s progress over the next few weeks (or months).
