a sneak peek at Auburn OL recruit Tai Buster’s decision day
TIME: This Friday at A.L. Brown High, 4 p.m. CT and 5 p.m. ET (via social media)
RANKING/RATING: Buster, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound player, is ranked No. 33 interior offensive lineman, No. 13 player in the state of North Carolina, and No. 534 overall in the class of 2025. In the On3 Industry Ranking, Buster is rated 87.73.
THE 411: Buster unveiled a graphic showing his six potential college choices: Duke, Auburn, Florida, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Rutgers.
Last weekend, Buster made his first visit to Auburn. Before going back home, he and his family spent the night there. The Tigers left a lasting impact, and ever since they were among the first to make an offer, they have pressed for his commitment.
Notable quotes
They noticed me, and I’m quite grateful for that. They’ve really had me interested in this. I think they’re a top school for this reason as well.
“I appreciate how Coach Freeze spoke with us and had one-on-one meetings with us. He exudes cool feelings. As a coach, I would truly love having him.
“I really like Coach Thornton; he reminds me a lot of my offensive line coach from back in school.”
Why Auburn might win/my choice
A PREDICTION MACHINE FOR RECRUITING: With a 99.3 percent RPM, Auburn is in the lead. There isn’t another school mentioned.
IF AUBURN LANDS HIM: It would help Auburn maintain its ranking in the top 10 and give the Tigers commitment No. 9 in the 2025 class. For the class, it would be the third offensive line commit.
WHY IT COULD BE AUBURN: Buster’s decision to commit, made less than a week after visiting Auburn, his bond with Jake Thornton, and his allegiance to Auburn for seeing him through early identification.
WHY ANOTHER POSSIBLE OWNER: He visited Florida’s campus, Rutgers is pressing for a formal visit, and Penn State has been actively pursuing him lately.
