Latest Falcons Updates: Atlanta Falcons Confirm As Landing Spot For Top Experienced NFL Pass Rusher

Two NFC teams are reportedly interested in trading for Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick.
Coming off of consecutive Pro Bowl seasons, the advantage
A key player in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2022 Super Bowl bid was Haason Reddick. The standout pass rusher might be headed out after just one season. According to NFL Media, the two-time Pro Bowler has been given freedom to pursue a trade while he looks for a new contract. Meanwhile, Josina Anderson, senior NFL source for CBS Sports HQ, reports that a number of teams have indicated interest in trading Josh Reddick.

Reddick, who is from the Philadelphia region, has expressed his gratitude for the chance to play for the Eagles. Before the 2023 season, he told CBS Sports that he was “hopeful” to sign a new contract with the team and “represent my city for the rest of my career.” However, the Temple graduate may be looking for a significant pay increase as he has just one season remaining on the three-year deal he signed in 2022. Coming off of his second consecutive double-digitsack season with the Birds, his $15 million annual average now ranks 14th among edge rushers.

While Reddick’s current contract isn’t something the Eagles are just looking to dump, PHLY reports that they are willing to consider trading for the former first-round choice in exchange for salary cap relief and compensation. Reddick’s contract could still be renegotiated by the parties to keep him in the long run, but in the unlikely event that a trade happens, these are some possible suitors:
Falcons of Atlanta
According to ESPN, the Falcons would be a potential contender for Reddick’s services. With Jimmy Lake becoming the team’s third defensive coordinator in three years, Atlanta is trying to bolster their defense with a veteran pass rusher. Last season, the Falcons ranked 19th in terms of sack rate (7.1%) and 25th in terms of pressure rate (32.7%), with their 42 sacks ranking them 21st in the NFL.

Reddick may be just what the Falcons need—a pass rusher who has double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons.
