After first visit, Vols on short list of favorites for Georgia safety
Tennessee is one of the top schools in the running for a Class of 2025 safety target who visited the Vols for the first time last weekend.
Javion Butts was eager to visit Tennessee after the Vols gave him his first SEC scholarship offer more than three months ago. He was already giving them strong consideration, and he came away from his first trip to Knoxville viewing them as one of his top choices.

The Class of 2025 safety from Jones County High School in Gray, Ga., traveled to Tennessee on Saturday to attend its first weekend practice of the spring, and he said after the visit that Tennessee is “a great place.” He said the Vols are currently in his “top four, for sure,” and there’s a good chance he will return to Knoxville this summer.

After the visit, he said the Vols one of the four teams standing out most to him, along with North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Texas A&M. He said he has already scheduled official visits to Georgia Tech the first weekend in June and North Carolina the weekend of June 21.
