Jimmy Graham makes a social media post hinting to his retirement.
seasoned tight end Jimmy Graham made a strong implication on social media that his NFL career might be finished.
Though he never explicitly stated as much, Graham sent a message on Instagram on Friday that unmistakably sounded like a retirement announcement. Although he left the door open for a comeback, Graham did not seem as though he expected to play again. Instead, he expressed gratitude to the Saints, the city of New Orleans, his coaches, and his teammates.
“I am grateful to New Orleans for having faith in me. Graham commented, “Thank you for the amazing ride, the love, and the memories. It has been an honor of a lifetime to play for you, the people, and this city. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but I’m grateful beyond words to be able to put on (No.) 80 once more and find the end zone in the one place I know.
The 37-year-old Graham played in New Orleans for the first five seasons of his career before leaving the team in 2022 and returning in 2023. Despite an off-field incident that raised concerns, he was mostly employed in the red zone, as seen by the fact that four of his six receptions for touchdowns came on just seven targets in 13 games.
Early in his career, Graham was a standout tight end, and during his early years with the Saints, Drew Brees preferred to target him. If this is the end for him professionally, New Orleans will remember him with great affection.
