In today’s Auburn Tigers News, Auburn football unveils the A-Day MVPs and a 4-star quarterback from the West will shortly make his final decision.
Husan Longstreet, a 4-star quarterback, traveled to the Plains from Corona, California, this past weekend to participate in the Tigers’ spring scrimmage.
It was his second visit to Auburn’s campus and the last one he would make before deciding which school to commit to in just one week.
Longstreet, the #2 prospect out of California and the #5 quarterback in the recruiting class of 2025, has scheduled April 14 as the day he will make his commitment. Texas A&M, Michigan, Miami, Oregon, Louisville, and Ole Miss football will be his options.
Development is the most important factor to Longstreet when making decisions, and he has been quite pleased with the Tigers’ coaching staff thus far.
Longstreet stated, “The way Coach Jesse (Stone), Coach (Kent) Austin, Coach Freeze can develop their quarterbacks,” according to Auburn Rivals. “They surround themselves with excellent things. It was done at Ole Miss. At Liberty, they carried it out. Now they are executing it.”
The A-Day MVPs are announced by Auburn football
With the A-Day game this past weekend, which concluded with the offense defeating the defense by one point, 28-27, spring practice is officially completed. Jordan-Hare hosted a number of the Tigers’ true freshmen, while a number of transfers made their debuts in front of Auburn football supporters.
Three newcomers—two freshmen and one transfer—were the Tigers’ spring game MVPs. Jerrin Thompson, a former Texas defensive back, was the defense’s MVP. Throughout the scrimmage, he recorded three tackles and a sack.
Cam Coleman, a rookie wide receiver who scored the team’s lone touchdown in the game, was the offensive MVP. On four catches, he gained 92 yards, including a 49-yard pass from Hank Brown.
And true freshman kicker Towns McGough, who scored 21 of the offense’s 28 points on seven field goals and a 58-yard game-winning kick, could be the special teams MVP.
