Former Gophers recruit Jaxon Howard, a defensive end for LSU, has entered the transfer portal.
Robbinsdale Cooper sent Jaxon Howard a ton of offers, and he thought about the Gophers before deciding on LSU.
Jaxon Howard, a former Robbinsdale Cooper standout and LSU defensive end, was once again one of the most sought-after Minnesota high school football prospects.
Howard participated in spring practice and played five games for LSU as a true freshman last season, but according to several sources on Wednesday, he’s going via the transfer portal.
Howard, a 6-4, 240-pound native of Minneapolis, was rated as a four-star recruit and the top player in Minnesota’s 2023 class.
Howard paid P.J. Fleck, the coach of the Gophers, a formal visit during his high school days. Before he signed with the Tigers in July 2022, the Gophers, Miami, and Michigan were among his finalist teams. In the ReliaQuest Bowl on January 1, Howard’s most productive performance for LSU came against Wisconsin, where he recorded one tackle and a quarterback hurry.
In order to add depth on both sides of the ball for the 2024 campaign, Fleck and the Gophers will be searching the transfer portal.
