Breaking News: Georgia Bulldogs Confirm The Departure Of Another Star

Running back for Georgia declares intention to use transfer portal

Now that Georgia’s spring game is over, there will be renewed discussion about the transfer portal.

The transfer site and Georgia football have a love-hate relationship; the Bulldogs have benefited from both major player acquisitions and losses as a result of its unrestricted persistence.

Two days following Georgia’s spring football game, redshirt sophomore running back Andrew Paul said on Instagram that he planned to shop about for a better opportunity. This is the second Dawg that has fallen victim to the transfer portal.

Paul may have been aiming to climb the depth chart in 2024 after seeing little action in the 2023 season. Trevor Etienne, a former Florida running back, may have hampered Paul’s relocation with his entry via the portal.

In the 2024 G-Day game, Paul had four carries for 54 yards total, including a 25-yard run, and one touchdown. Even though Paul alternated between the Red and Black teams as quarterback, sophomore Roderick Robinson received the most of the carryage during the game, finishing with 11 rushes for 27 yards.

Georgia is also excitedly anticipating the comeback of Branson Robinson, a five-star running back, who was sidelined by a knee injury in 2023. During the spring game, Robinson was not in the field.

It won’t be ideal if Andrew Paul leaves, but there are still enough of capable players on the team to pass the ball to. To offset any possible loss of depth, Georgia may also be able to add another running back through the portal.

Up until its next closure on April 30, the portal is probably going to be active. By the end of the month, Kirby Smart should have strengthened the roster in a few different places.
