Breaking News: Another LSU tight end has decided to enter the transfer portal after one season

LSU’s backup tight end, Connor Gilbreath, hailing from California, has made the decision to enter the transfer portal, marking the end of his tenure after just one season with the team. Initially starting his college football journey at Butte College, Gilbreath brought two more seasons of eligibility to LSU. Functioning primarily as a blocking tight end, he made appearances in all games during his time with LSU, accumulating 56 snaps. However, his role was largely confined to short-yardage situations, especially when LSU opted for multiple tight end formations.

Despite his contributions, Gilbreath found himself behind in the pecking order, with junior Mason Taylor, sophomore Mac Markway, and sophomore Ka’Morreun Pimpton ahead of him on the depth chart for the spring season. Adding to the competition, LSU is set to welcome Trey’Dez Green, the top-ranked tight end recruit in the 2024 class, further diminishing Gilbreath’s prospects for playing time.

Gilbreath’s departure from LSU marks the third player to enter the transfer portal this spring, following edge rusher Jaxon Howard and wide receiver Khai Prean.
