A report indicat es that a former Auburn basketball player, Aden Holloway, is poised to visit the rival Alabama Crimson Tide, potentially intensifying the Auburn-Alabama rivalry. The Auburn Tigers recently experienced significant roster changes, with three guards departing via the transfer portal, while center Dylan Cardwell will conclude his eligibility with Auburn. Meanwhile, Auburn’s head coach, Bruce Pearl, has welcomed point guard JP Pegues from Furman to the team.
According to Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News, Holloway, who played one season for Auburn, is expected to visit Alabama. Kelly stated, “Aden Holloway is set to visit the Crimson Tide this week after playing one season for the Tigers, a source told The Tuscaloosa News.” Despite being a former 5-star recruit in the 2023 class, Holloway struggled to establish a consistent role with Auburn, with both him and Tre Donaldson frequently swapping roles throughout the season.
During his tenure with Auburn, Holloway averaged 7.3 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per game, with shooting percentages of 31.8% from the field and 30.2% from three-point range. The addition of Pegues at point guard for Auburn’s upcoming season and the presence of Denver Jones, along with incoming freshmen Tahaad Pettiford and Jahki Howard, suggest a shifting landscape for the team’s lineup.
The focus now shifts to big-man Johni Broome, whose decision regarding next season remains pivotal for Pearl’s roster. Recent social media content featuring Broome interacting with students has fueled speculation about his potential continuation with Auburn for the upcoming season, adding further intrigue to the team’s dynamics.
