Former guard Janae Kent of women’s basketball is still relevant to LSU.

The rising sophomore will play the Tigers directly in the upcoming season after announcing on Sunday that she will be transferring to Texas A&M, a rival school in the SEC.

Kent, a true freshman who was ranked among the top 100 recruits after graduating from Oak Forest, Illinois, high school, had 32 appearances this season, primarily as a rotating player.

In the SEC championship game versus South Carolina, she made her lone start in lieu of an injured Mikaylah Williams, scoring three points. Against Queens and Texas Southern, she scored seven points in two games, which was a season high.
Kent joins an Aggies squad that just made its first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2021. Texas A&M, ranked No. 11, lost its first-round matchup against Nebraska, seeded No. 6.
