Former White Sox Top Prospect Might Be A Yankees Trade Candidate
Is it worth it for the Yankees to pursue closing this deal with the White Sox?
Although the 2024 season is still in progress, summer will arrive sooner than expected.
Trade rumors and speculation are set to heat up significantly as summer approaches. Even if this is the case, some theories are already beginning to be proposed. One of the top baseball clubs, the New York Yankees, will probably try to add players around the trade deadline this summer.
Though it’s too soon to predict exactly what the Yankees will do, Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report compiled a list of Major League Baseball teams’ most pressing needs and potential trade targets.
He stated that the Yankees will be searching for a late-inning reliever and mentioned Michael Kopech of the Chicago White Sox as a compelling trade option.
“The Yankees’ bullpen has done excellent work so far, pitching to a 2.40 ERA and helping to preserve five one-run wins,” Rymer stated. “But there’s a dilemma since Jonathan Loáisiga won’t be there for the remainder of the season.
Tanner Scott, Kenley Jansen, Chris Martin, Carlos Estévez, Adam Ottavino, and Michael Kopech are other possible solutions. Kopech is the most intriguing thrower on the list, even though Scott is the best. He’s shown a love for relief work, allowing just four hits while striking out 12 of the 31 batters he’s faced. The Chicago White Sox would be smart to cash him in if he continues this way.”
Before being moved to Chicago, Kopech was one of the best baseball prospects, having played for the Boston Red Sox. Although he started his major league career as a starter, he moved into the bullpen and has shown promise this year. Is he a viable candidate for New York?
