The Miami Dolphins may prioritize improving their pass rush going into the 2024 NFL Draft.
Due to the concern surrounding the injured Achilles tendon of Jaelen Phillips and the damaged ACL of Bradley Chubb, Miami may decide to make several selections in the first round of this year’s draft in an attempt to strengthen the front seven.
Although pass rush isn’t anticipated to be a strong suit in this year’s draft class, when Miami selects with the No. 21 overall pick, there may be a number of talented players available at the position.
Is Chop Robinson a Good Fit for the Miami Dolphins?
Chop Robinson of Penn State, one of the most potent pass rushers in this year’s class, may fall out of the top-15 picks and end up being the perfect choice for general manager Chris Grier and the Dolphins.
Maurice Morton of Bleacher Report compiled a list of this year’s most divisive prospects and their probable teams, connecting Robinson with the Dolphins in the first round.
Robinson might be selected by the Miami Dolphins just outside the top 20, according to Morton. With Bradley Chubb (torn ACL) and Jaelan Phillips (torn Achilles) recovering from season-ending injuries, they have an obvious need at the edge.
“Miami could draft a pass-rusher to shore up the position in the long run, given Chubb’s extensive injury history.”
Even though production didn’t always keep up, Robinson’s explosiveness was evident in his game-film throughout two exceptional seasons at Happy Valley. But in 2024, as a backup pass rusher next to Phillips and Chubb, and with room to grow, he might establish himself as a formidable member of the Dolphins’ front seven.
NFL Draft Scouting Report on Chop Robinson
In his two seasons in Happy Valley, Robinson recorded 41 total tackles, including 17.5 tackles for loss, including 9.5 sacks, demonstrating his disruptiveness in the backfield.
The Bleacher Report Scouting Department writes, “Demeioun “Chop” Robinson might have the best combination of get-off and bend in this draft class.” He has incredible lower body flexibility and is blazing fast off the ball.
“He has a lot of potential as an edge-rusher in the NFL because he’s a top-tier athlete and he sets up his pass-rush moves well.”
Robinson ran the 40-yard sprint in a scorching 4.48 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.25 seconds at the NFL Combine.
