The portal’s 247 ranking, which has Lambert-Smith at No. 13 WR and No. 70 overall, is the most optimistic about him. He is ranked No. 140 overall in the portal by On3. According to 247, he was the highest ranking uncommitted receiver still on the portal and among the best uncommitted athletes overall.

During his sophomore and junior seasons at Penn State (2021 and 2022), Lambert-Smith averaged 15.7 yards per reception, making him a dangerous threat in the passing game. Using his Covid-year of eligibility, Lambert-Smith ought to play on the Plains this season in his final year of eligibility.

This offseason, Hugh Freeze and Auburn have been particularly active users of the Transfer Portal. This year, Lambert-Smith is the thirteenth portal acquisition for the Tigers. Along with Robert Lewis of Georgia State and Sam Jackson V of Cal, he is the third wide receiver.

In 2024, the Auburn Wide Receiver room will be totally renovated and significantly improved, with newcomers including Lambert-Smith, Jackson V, and Lewis.

Along with highly regarded four-star receiver Perry Thompson, the Tigers also signed standout in-state WR recruit Cam Coleman, who is a consensus five-star and top-10 overall athlete in the 2024 HS class. Malcolm Simmons and Bryce Cain, two more four-star high school receivers (plus three-star WR Dylan Gentry as a PWO) were also signed by Auburn.
