Done Deal: Just In Houston Texans Confirm Another Draft Pick Of Top Talented Super Star

The Houston Texans select Blake Fisher of Notre Dame.
On Friday, April 26, the Houston Texans selected offensive lineman Blake Fisher from Notre Dame in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Fisher, a right tackle, was selected with the 59th overall pick in the first two rounds of this year’s draft, making him the second Irish offensive lineman chosen. A day earlier, the Los Angeles Chargers selected left lineman Joe Alt with the fifth overall pick in the draft.

Fisher is a gifted offensive tackle who started for Notre Dame for two seasons. Fisher, a former four-star recruit from Indiana’s Avon High School, choose Notre Dame over a number of other offers. Several prestigious universities expressed interest in him, including Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, and LSU. Fisher was ranked in the third or fourth round of several early NFL Draft forecasts. But he climbed the rankings steadily. During the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, he allegedly gave good interviews and left an impression on scouts.

Fit for the Texans, Fisher
Fisher is joining a Texans squad that looks like it’s going in the right way. The Texans (10-7 in 2023), who won the AFC South, are a formidable passing team led by quarterback C.J. Stroud. Charlie Heck is expected to start at right tackle, with Laremy Tunsil serving as the offensive line’s anchor at left tackle. Fisher will give the offensive line more depth at 6’6″ and 310 pounds. He ought to have a chance to contend for a starting position in the offense of the Texans. He is swift, possesses hefty hands, and a strong arm length. Fisher is a strong blocker who is particularly intimidating when it comes to run blocking. For the next level, he will have to hone his pass protection techniques. However, he is well capable of accomplishing it.

Liufau Marist to the Cowboys
There are several Notre Dame draft picks going to the Lone Star State, including Fisher. Following his selection by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the draft on Friday, Marist Liufau, a linebacker for Notre Dame, is also headed to Texas.

In 2022, as a senior, Liufau started playing for the Irish full-time. That season, he racked up 51 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and one interception. He recorded 44 tackles, three sacks, six tackles for loss, and two pass breakups in 2023. He forced a fumble as well. Liufau enjoys contact and is a willing tackler. He exudes tremendous energy and is tough. He will give the Cowboys’ edge more strength. For newly appointed defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, Liufau ought to be able to have an immediate impact.

Notre Dame may select two linebackers in addition to their two offensive linemen in this year’s draft. JD Bertrand wants to play in the NFL with players like Liufau, Fisher, and Alt. Both Bertrand and Liufau were recruits for Notre Dame in 2019.
