Texans choose Georgia CB Kamari Lassiter, breaking the news
With the No. 42 overall selection, the Houston Texans are strengthening their secondary.
In preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans are strengthening their secondary.
The Texans selected Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter with the 42nd overall pick.
Lassiter, who is 180 pounds in weight and stands 6-0, was a player for Georgia during their two seasons of winning a national championship.
Lassiter’s addition provides the Texans, who are about to embark on their third NFL season, further depth in the secondary behind Derek Stingley Jr. The Texans ranked 29th in 2023 in terms of completion percentage, so this selection definitely fills a need.
During his time at Georgia, Lassiter only gave up one passing touchdown, which suggests that he has what it takes to eventually develop into a genuine shutdown corner. The Texans may mix and match him with whichever players they have on hand and take it from there. He can play both inside and outside.
