Houston Texans: Statement of Release Regarding Tank Dell

Following rumors that wideout Tank Dell had been shot early in the morning at a nightclub, the Houston Texans issued a statement on Sunday. Dell, a third-round selection from Houston in 2023, put up strong stats before being hurt that ended his season.
“Tank Dell was shot and killed last night in Sanford, Florida, it has been reported to us. Despite having a small cut on him, he was discharged from the hospital and is doing well. We are keeping in touch with him and his family and will send out further updates as needed, but for now we ask that you respect his privacy. We are sending our condolences and prayers to everyone affected by the disaster.
At a Cabana Live Event, ten persons had non-life-threatening injuries. The shooter, a 16-year-old, was recognized after the shooting, which took place on Saturday night after midnight. According to Fox 26, the gunman was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, firing a weapon on a public place, and having a gun in the possession of a juvenile, among other offenses.

Dell: Outstanding First Year
Tank Dell performed admirably as a rookie last season. He was a standout player at SMU until the Houston Texans selected him in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Dell had two strong games following a lackluster first one in which he caught 12 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. In six of his ten professional games, Dell caught six or more passes, making him a favorite of quarterback C.J. Stroud. But in Week 11, the rookie had a lower-body injury that ended his season.

Dell anticipates being prepared for the season’s first game, having missed the whole last stretch of the 2023 campaign. With a 10-7 record in their first season under head coach DeMeco Ryans, Houston took home the AFC South last year.
