Yankees Could Be The Ideal Landing Spot for Angels to Trade All-Star Pitcher
The Angels could deal an All-Star, and the Yankees could use another reliever.
The New York Yankees will probably have a very busy schedule as the trade deadline draws near.
Though the trade deadline isn’t until July 30, rumors have already begun to circulate. As one of the finest baseball teams, New York will probably be buyers come summertime if they continue to perform this well.
Although New York has a strong team overall, when the deadline approaches, increasing the depth of the bullpen should be a top concern. Veteran pitcher Matt Moore of the Los Angeles Angels is one player that could make a lot of sense if the Yankees decide to make a trade.
With superstar outfielder Mike Trout out of the lineup due to injury, Los Angeles’ dismal start to the season is expected to worsen. Robert Murry of FanSided reports that Moore has already been discussed as a trade candidate and that the Angels will probably be sellers.
“Among the Angels players who drew trade interest this winter include infielder Luis Rengifo, outfielders Taylor Ward and Mickey Moniak, as well as reliever Jose Suarez and catcher Matt Thaiss,” Murray stated. “Relievers Matt Moore, Luis Garcia, and Adam Cimber, all signed to one-year contracts this offseason, figure to emerge as potential trade candidates as well.”
Moore, an All-Star once, has performed admirably since moving full-time to the bullpen in 2022. The veteran pitched in 50 games last season with a 2.56 ERA after posting a 1.93 ERA in 63 appearances in 2022.
He is precisely the kind of guy that New York may add to strengthen the bullpen in the final stages. Moore might contribute to the Yankees’ already excellent bullpen being even more potent.
