It was accurate, Kalen DeBoer. It appears that Alabama football is still adding talent at a position that needs it, even though the spring transfer portal window is closed.
The Crimson Tide will probably sign Wake Forest defensive back DaShawn Jones, according to 247Sports. Jones has played all two seasons as a starter for the Demon Deacons.
DeBoer stated on Thursday, “There are guys that we’re working through that we will have visits or that we’re trying to get them set to come to campus.” Ultimately, I believe that the direction we’re taking in terms of strengthening and enhancing the roster is positive. And that’s the main idea here.
Jones started three games for Wake Forest last season at cornerback. Before stepping through the portal during the spring window, he lived in Winston-Salem for three seasons.
The NFL Draft and the transfer portal devastated Alabama’s defensive backs group, as numerous of them left following Nick Saban’s departure. DeBoer indicated that during the spring window, the Tide might attempt to add numbers in the group.
Jones, who played for Wake Forest for three seasons, brings experience to a youthful team. Last season, he recorded 37 total tackles and two pass breakups.
He will be the second cornerback from North Carolina selected by Alabama through the transfer portal. During the spring window, former Charlotte corner Kameron Howard was also added by the Crimson Tide.
Before the news, Jones was visiting Alabama. He shared two images from Tuscaloosa on social media, the most recent one being on Sunday.
After May 1, the portal entry spring window closed. Existing portal users can still sign up with new schools.
