Maeve Eckerman verbally committed to the University of Georgia, therefore in the fall of 2025, there will be an SEC rivalry in the Eckerman home. Max Eckerman, a freshman at LSU who just concluded his season, has a younger sister named Maeve.
Maeve Eckerman is a member of one of the top junior girls training groups in the nation and trains with the Sarasota Sharks. Among them are swimmers Michaela Mattes, Lolly Milbaum, Addison Sauickie, and Canadian Summer McIntosh, who is ranked among the best in the world for junior swimming.
As a mere sophomore, Eckerman achieved the title of 2022 Florida High School 4A (large public schools) State Champion in the 100-yard backstroke for Venice High School, touching in 54.65. She placed third in the 100 back this year and fourth in the 200 free at same competition as a junior.
Eckerman is a skilled middle-distance swimmer who specializes in 200-yard events, much as the training group mentioned above.
The best times to visit Yards:
100 fly – 55.98 200 fly – 2:00.03 200 IM – 2:00.34 100 back – 54.30 200 back – 1:56.84 100 free – 49.91 200 free – 1:47.87
The women from Georgia placed fifth in the SEC and thirteenth in the NCAA in 2024. Although Eckerman’s expertise is 200-yard events, the program has consistently performed exceptionally well in them. However, this class of 2025 desperately needs some depth rebuilding.
By the time Eckerman arrives, all six of the program’s individual scorers from the 2024 NCAA Championship meet will have graduated. Abby McCulloh, the 1650 free champion and top scorer, is one of four rising seniors for the upcoming year.
With that scholarship money freed up, the Bulldogs are making good use of it. The Bulldogs have at least 11 players committed for fall 2025 in addition to at least five who will join the team in fall 2024.
Thus far, the Bulldogs Class of 2025:
Florida’s Maeve Eckerman
Kevin Dobson from Pennsylvania
Pennsylvanian Emily Hamill
Illinois’ Elizabeth Nawrocki
Illinois’s Izzy Beu
North Carolina native Clarke Neace
Texas’s Marin Clem
McMurray, Kylie (New Jersey)
Ohioan Hayden Hollingsworth
North Carolina’s Mia Jeltema
Georgian Hailey Dopson
Although he didn’t make LSU’s freshman roster for the 2024 SEC Championships, her elder brother Max did have some success. He finished the 100 breaststroke in 56.17, seven tenths faster than his previous best performance.
A 2022 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American was Maeve Eckerman.
