Raiders sign Andrus Peat, a three-time Pro Bowler.
Ian Rapoport reports that Las Vegas has signed three-time Pro Bowler Andrus Peat through free agency. Peat was selected with the 13th overall choice in the 2015 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, where he has enjoyed great seasons.
Throughout his career, the 6-7 Stanford product has been a reliable starter for the Saints at left guard and left tackle. He participated in 16 games for the team in both positions last season.
Peat gave up two sacks and was in charge of six penalties in 2023 that had an impact on the Saints. Additionally, he obtained a 60.0 grade from PFF.
His best seasons occurred during a three-year span from 2018 to 2020, during which he was named to the Pro Bowl each year. After agreeing to a contract in 2020, Peat was let go by New Orleans before it was finished.
anticipated role
Peat’s Raiders contract specifics are still pending until he can successfully complete a team physical. Peat joins Kolton Miller, another Pro Bowl player, in a youthful offensive line room.
It’s uncertain where Peat will start in the lineup because he has played mostly on the left side of the offensive line. Throughout the summer, the Raiders have made numerous additions to the offensive line via both free agency and the draft.
The Raiders selected Jackson Powers-Johnson and Delmar Glaze in the draft. Cody Whitehair is another seasoned veteran they signed.
Antonio Pierce, the head coach, and Tom Telesco, the general manager, appear to prioritize the offensive line. This upcoming season, Peat will be covering either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell.
