Browns Cut Former Seventh-Round Selection

With the release of Dawson Deaton, a 2022 seventh-round draft pick, due to a failed physical designation, the Browns decreased their roster by one, according to an NFL insider Aaron Wilson’s tweet on Thursday night.
Though the former Texas Tech lineman missed the 2022 season due to an ACL tear, Deaton was an offensive guard for Cleveland.
The team released the 6-foot-1, 306-pound lineman in July, so he was not included on the roster in 2023 either.
Throughout his four seasons of collegiate play, Dawson was a member of the Red Raiders, starting 35 of the 44 games he participated in between 2017 and 2021.
Before switching to the guard position with the Browns, Dawson played center in college.
The offensive lineman for Dawson and his team had their greatest season in their sophomore year, finishing second in the Big 12 Conference with just 1.5 sacks allowed per game.
When the athlete was an assistant for the game in the 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl, then-Browns assistant coach Scott Peters was paying notice in Cleveland.
