Latest Bama Updates: Alabama Football Transfer Portal

DaShawn Jones, a Wake Forest transfer, has committed, so Alabama supporters should feel a little more at ease about the secondary in general and the cornerback situation in particular.

But here, in the latter part of spring, the Tide is still moving. For former South Alabama linebacker Khalil Jacobs, Alabama is still a contender. After delaying a planned visit to Alabama last weekend, it appears that Jacobs still plans to visit Alabama. For a brief while, it was thought that Jacobs had a strong Auburn lean, and the Tigers may still be the favorite. The athletic linebacker Jacobs is well-versed in Kane Wommack’s scheme. Among other places he intends to visit before deciding include Missouri and Alabama.

Geno VanDeMark, a former offensive tackle for Michigan State, is another top target for the Crimson Tide. VanDeMark would be a very important addition to Alabama’s interior offensive line and has close links to offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic. VanDeMark was recruited by Kapilovic to Michigan State in the class of 2021.
VanDeMark continued to play for the Spartans, starting 18 games. He is a seasoned veteran who would add solid depth to the offensive line, especially at the center position where Parker Brailsford seems to be leaving Bama exposed.

King Mack, a former Penn State safety who was a highly sought-after recruit in the 2023 cycle, is another player that Alabama is still after. In the Tide secondary, Mack would lessen the impact of the transfers of Tony Mitchell and Peyton Woodyard.

Alabama is expected to stay active in the transfer portal until it determines that its depth is adequate all around. The coaching staff will target any position it believes has a need with the same tenacity as it did in its search for a transfer cornerback.
