East Rutherford, New Jersey — Malik Nabers, an LSU first-round draft selection, has signed with the Giants. Malik Nabers of LSU, a first-round draft selection, has committed to the New York Giants.
While rookies and free agents arrived for a minicamp on Friday, the Giants announced the signing of the talented wide receiver.
Nabers, the sixth pick in last month’s draft, signed a four-year, $29.1 million contract for a $18 million signing bonus.
“Unreal,” remarked Nabers. “Even though the work is not finished, I felt a little emotional and shook as I wrote my name on the document. It marked the end of a chapter in my life. It seemed like a pat on the back at that moment for me to have reached this point in my life and journey.
With his exceptional ball handling and route-running abilities, Nabers could be the Giants’ first game-changing wide receiver since Odell Beckham Jr. was selected 10 years ago. For LSU past season, he caught 89 passes for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The last Giants wide receiver to reach 1,000 yards was Beckham (2018). He hauled in at least 90 receptions for 1,300 yards per season and 35 touchdowns in total from 2014 to 2016.
Tyrone Tracy Jr., a running back selected in the fifth round by the Giants out of Purdue, was also signed.
Eight rookie free agents were also signed by the team: kicker Jude McAtamney, who is exempt from roster restrictions because he is an international player; receivers Ayir Asante of Wyoming and John Jiles of West Florida; guard Jake Kubas of North Dakota State; tackle Marcellus Johnson of Missouri; defensive tackle Casey Rogers of Oregon; defensive end Ovie Oghoufo of LSU; defensive back Alex Johnson of UCLA; and kicker Jude McAtamney of Missouri. Due to an injury, running back Deon Jackson was waived.
