Rangers and White Sox trade for a former Tigers outfielder.
DETROIT: Robbie Grossman, the former outfielder for the Detroit Tigers, is in route to Texas.

The minor-league pitcher Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa was transferred by the Chicago White Sox to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for Grossman, who played all or parts of the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Tigers.

Grossman, 34, helped the Rangers win the 2023 World Series before agreeing to a minor-league deal with the White Sox this season.
The 12-year-old switch-hitter batted.211 in 25 games with Chicago this season, with four doubles, zero home runs, four RBIs, and thirteen walks in 85 plate appearances. With 4,401 plate appearances, 90 home runs, and 419 RBIs, he has a career.243 average.

With the Tigers in 2021, Grossman had his finest season ever with 23 home runs, 67 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases. They’re all career highs.

Grossman batted.228 with 25 home runs, 90 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases while he was with Detroit.
