Breaking News: Raiders Confirm One Step Away From Signing Top Experienced CB

This offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders haven’t been very aggressive in addressing the cornerback position. The team waited until the fourth round of the draft to select a cornerback in the draft and hasn’t added any noteworthy veterans to the group.

Fortunately, if the Raiders believe they still need to improve the position group, there are still some excellent possibilities available to them in free agency. Adoree’ Jackson, a former cornerback for the New York Giants, is one player to watch.

“Patrick Graham, who has been in charge of the defense in Las Vegas for the previous two years, was the coordinator in New York when the Giants signed Jackson. The Raiders’ defense improved after Antonio Pierce took over as interim coach, but they still need to improve at cornerback, according to Barnwell’s May 14 column. Graham kept his position after Pierce’s rise. “Amik Robertson left in free agency, and although Jack Jones did fantastic work for Vegas once he got here, the third-year pro wasn’t available until he got into a heated argument with Bill Belichick off the field in New England.”Jackson is an experienced cornerback who could relieve some of the load on Jones and Jakorian Bennett. As players can’t really anticipate big deals at this stage of the offseason, Jackson should be able to accept a one-year contract for a reasonable amount of money to get into camp. The Raiders can never have too many reliable cornerbacks in a division that has Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.

Is the Las Vegas Raiders a Good Fit for Adoree’ Jackson?
Given his relationship with Graham, Jackson makes sense as a member of the Raiders. He should be able to rapidly become integrated as he is well-versed in the defense. Nevertheless, it’s hard to see how Jackson would be a significant improvement.

The former first-round selection has only made two interceptions in his past five seasons combined and hasn’t participated in a full 16-game season since 2018. Among cornerbacks, his 48.6 Pro Football Focus grade from the previous season placed him 117th.
As he probably wouldn’t cost much, signing him would not come with much risk. Graham is the one who can determine whether he would fit in or not. Nevertheless, it appears that there are still better solutions accessible.
