Breaking: Miami Hurricanes Confirm The Departure Of Highly Rated Star

After playing for Houston, a former SEC quarterback pledges to HBCU
Lucas Coley, a football player at the University of Houston and former SEC commit, is going to an HBCU nearby. Based on his social media, the former San Antonio quarterback who was rated as a four-star has committed to Prairie View A&M.

At Cornerstone Christian, where he played high school football, Coley passed for over 1,300 yards in ten games as a senior in 2020, with 13 touchdowns and one interception. As a senior, Coley, who is also skilled with his feet, ran for almost 500 yards and 11 touchdowns. In his junior year of 2019, he amassed over 3,000 yards of total offense and thirty touchdowns.

While 247Sports rated Lucas Coley as a three-star, ESPN rated him as a four-star. He was ranked eighth in the 2021 class by ESPN for dual-threat quarterbacks. He received around thirty offers from ACC, Big Ten, and SEC universities. Arkansas, Tennessee, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Yale, and Vanderbilt all extended offers to him. In the end, he decided to commit to Arkansas, enrolling early in January 2021. Before moving to Houston, he attended the SEC institution for one season. As a redshirt freshman in 2022, he made two appearances total over three games. In 2023, Coley made only one appearance in a game and took a few punt return snaps. He will now try to take over for the SWAC West winners, who believed they had Clifton McDowell as their quarterback earlier this season.
