REPORT: The third-round selection of the Seattle Seahawks signed a rookie contract.
Following the departure of starting linemen Damien Lewis and Phil Haynes in free agency, the Seattle Seahawks needed to improve their interior offensive line going into the 2019 offseason.
More than a week before the draft, the Seahawks signed veteran left guard Laken Tomlinson, but they eventually had to deal with the right guard position.
In the third round, they selected one.

Christian Haynes was selected by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 81st overall.
His rookie contract was signed by him.

The previous six seasons were spent in Connecticut.
Christian Haynes spent six seasons as a college player with the Huskies at UConn.
For the 2018 campaign, Haynes made a two-star recruit commitment to the Huskies. Playing every snap at right guard, he would have a strong career with the team, appearing in 51 games and starting 49 of them.
In 2023, Haynes participated in 12 games, starting 12 of them. He finished with an 80.2 PFF Grade, an 80.1 run block success rate, an 82.5 pass block win rate per PFF, 12 pressures, 10 hurries, one hit, and one sack allowed. He was selected for the All-American Third Team by the Associated Press.

NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein conducted a scouting report on him.
“Sturdy at the attack point, four-year starter, and team captain. With his football IQ, Haynes plays every snap as an order to move opponents and complete blocks.
Lack of length and being confined to one position may have an impact on his draft placing, but his resolute playing approach offsets those elements. Although he isn’t very long range, he can destroy targets when pulling blocks and is proficient in space and pass protection.
“He tends to grab too much and his hand usage can become careless, allowing opponents to get away from him.” Given everything, he could surpass his selection placing and establish himself as a reliable NFL starter.
Anthony Bradford and Christian Haynes will battle for the starting RG position.
This summer, Haynes will face Bradford for the starting RG position.
Due to injuries to Phil Haynes, Bradford began his rookie campaign as the backup guard but ended up playing in 14 games, starting ten, and logging 659 snaps at guard. With a 51.7 PFF Grade, five hits, one sack, twenty-eight pressures, and twenty-two hurries, he was not a good player. According to PFF, he also got a run block grade of 58.5 and a pass block mark of 38.9.
