**Recovered from Injury and Gunshot, Texans Wideout Tank Dell at OTAs**
Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell participated in the team’s OTAs on Tuesday, marking a significant recovery milestone less than a month after being injured in a shooting in Sanford, Florida. Dell, 24, sustained a minor gunshot wound to his leg and was briefly hospitalized following the incident, which occurred outside a nightclub and resulted in 10 people being wounded. According to reports from Florida, none of the injuries were life-threatening. A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide and other related charges.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans expressed his relief and happiness at Dell’s return. “Happy for Tank to get back out there. He went through a very tragic situation,” Ryans told reporters. “We’re just happy that he’s here, happy that he’s back out being able to do what he loves doing, and that’s playing football. It’s fun to see him running around, being that same player he’s been before, making plays and being a dynamic player for us. Everyone is excited to see Tank.”
Dell was drafted by the Texans in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft and made a strong impression in his rookie season. Over his first 11 games (eight starts), he recorded 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. However, his season was cut short by a broken leg suffered early in a Week 12 game against Denver, causing him to miss the remainder of the season.
