Done Deal: Just In Another Experienced Man Join LSU Coaching Crew

### LSU Basketball Hires New Associate Head Coach David Patrick

LSU Basketball has brought in a new associate head coach, David Patrick, who previously served as head coach at Sacramento State. This marks Patrick’s second tenure in Baton Rouge, having been an assistant coach from 2012 to 2016, where he notably played a key role in recruiting star player Ben Simmons due to his godfather relationship with Simmons.

Throughout his career, Patrick has amassed experience at various institutions, including Nicholls State, St. Mary’s, TCU, and Oklahoma, in assistant coaching roles. He has also been the head coach at UC Riverside and Sacramento State.

David Patrick is widely regarded as one of the nation’s top recruiters and an excellent talent developer. His efforts were particularly significant in 2015 when he helped LSU secure three top-40 recruits: Ben Simmons, Antonio Blakeney, and Brandon Sampson.

LSU head coach Matt McMahon expressed his enthusiasm about the hire, stating:

“I love Coach Patrick’s investment in player development and in building relationships. He has recruited and helped to develop multiple NBA Draft picks throughout his career. I look forward to the new ideas, solutions, and energy he will bring to our program. We can’t wait to get started this summer.”

### Impact on LSU Recruiting and Development

David Patrick’s hiring is expected to significantly enhance LSU’s ability to attract elite talent and develop players into stars. His track record of building strong recruiting classes and his impressive head coaching stint at Sacramento State bode well for LSU’s future. With a strong incoming freshman class, Patrick’s expertise could position LSU as a formidable contender in the SEC.
