NBA Executives anticipate Jimmy Butler staying with the Heat.
Analysts at Yahoo Sports report that Jimmy Butler is expected to stay with the Miami Heat by NBA executives.
This offseason, Butler is eligible for an extension. Next season, he will earn $48.8 million.
Butler, who will turn 35 in September, has a $52.4 million player option for the 2025–2026 campaign.
“Jammy Butler’s dynamic—who is eligible for an extension in Miami—is far murkier,” Fischer wrote. Naturally, the Sixers are no strangers to the Butler industry. He remained close with Joel Embiid, and according to reports, Daryl Morey may have tried to sign Butler more frequently than any other All-Star in Houston. However, league executives believe Butler will probably stay with the Heat at this point.
In five games, the Heat was defeated by the Boston Celtics in the 2024 postseason’s opening round. Butler’s knee ailment prevented him from playing.
The six-time All-Star, Butler shot 49.9% from the field, 41.4% from outside the arc, and 85.8% from the free-throw line this season, averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists.
This season, the Heat were 16th in net rating, third in points per game allowed, and 26th in points per game overall in the NBA. In the regular season, they had a 46-36 record.
Butler signed a sign-and-trade agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers to join the Heat in the summer of 2019. He led Miami to two NBA Finals appearances.
The Heat fell to the Boston Celtics in the 2023 conference finals, to the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals, to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals, and to the Milwaukee Bucks in the opening round of the 2021 playoffs. They also lost to the Celtics in this year’s postseason.
Butler’s career averages with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat are 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. Six All-Star teams, five All-NBA teams, and five All-Defensive teams have been selected by him.
Butler and his former team, the Sixers, have been connected. Rival teams believe Philadelphia might attempt to acquire Butler this summer, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
After Philadelphia’s first-round ouster, “more than one rival team out there has likewise wondered whether Philadelphia will mount a trade run at Butler to reacquire Embiid’s close friend,” Stein wrote.
