Devin Bush thanks Jim Schwartz for signing him to a contract with the Browns.
Devin Bush, the new linebacker for Cleveland, will make a fresh start with a different team for the second time in two seasons.
The former Pittsburgh Steeler joined the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year contract last year and participated in 13 games for the NFC West team.
Bush is now comfortable being nearer to the region he has called home for the most of his undergraduate and professional career, thus he is returning to the AFC North.
In addition to moving back to Eastern Time, Bush said on the “Cleveland Browns Daily” Podcast that he joined with the Browns this offseason because of his defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz.
“I recall that one of the first things he told me when I arrived on my visit was, ‘I learned to get out the way.'” Bush recalled their initial exchange of words with Schwartz.
Bush complimented Schwartz for approaching his athletes with the professionalism of professionals, pointing out that other coaches approach players differently as these assistants strive to advance in the coaching levels.
Bush continued, “As the defensive coordinator approaches coaching in this way, Schwartz facilitates collaboration and communication between the coaches and players.”
According to Bush, the approach aids in the team’s development into a potent and unified defensive force.
Bush is thus already experimenting with all linebacker spots in an effort to familiarize himself with the Browns’ defensive scheme.
In 2019, during his rookie year, Bush had the finest season of his career with 109 tackles and two interceptions.
Over the course of his five-year professional career, the linebacker has played in 65 games, recording 323 tackles and four sacks.
