An intriguing free agent wide receiver is linked to the Denver Broncos for the 2024–2025 season.
For the 2024 NFL season, Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos are not anticipated to be postseason contenders. They will be a different football team after an offseason in which they traded Jerry Jeudy, released Russell Wilson, and allowed Justin Simmons to sign free agent status (if he doesn’t end up going back before signing with another team).

Michael Thomas, a former standout wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, is someone the Denver Broncos should definitely consider signing, according to NFL expert Travis Wakeman of Sporting News.
“Thomas’ ability to open on shorter routes was what made him successful in New Orleans. Drew Brees and he clicked at an astounding rate, and they developed a fantastic rapport. It’s not difficult to imagine Thomas and Bo Nix having a similar relationship if Payton hopes to replicate that in Denver.
For the Broncos, Thomas getting back together with Payton seems like a terrific idea. Though it’s unlikely that he’ll ever reach his peak as a superstar, he could revive his career at a lower statistical pace.
Injury problems have plagued Thomas over the past couple of years. He has made more than his fair share of outspoken criticisms of the Saints and their handling of his injuries. Reuniting with the most trusted instructor could be the key to helping him get back on track.
Thomas would play right away with the Denver Broncos as well. On the depth chart, Sutton is now the team’s top wide receiver, followed by Josh Reynolds and Marvin Mims Jr. Thomas in good health might very well be Nix’s No. 2 or No. 3 target.
Thomas, who is 31 years old, ought to be searching for a low-cost one-year contract so that he may return to the market the following offseason and secure a higher offer. He just finished a 2023 campaign in which he participated in ten games. He shown his ability to still have an effect by catching 39 catches for 448 yards and a touchdown.
Thomas is the only player the Denver Broncos need to consider bringing in late to strengthen their attack. He’s the kind of signing that would not break the bank—low risk, huge payoff.
