Offcial Texas Rangers News: Just In Texas Rangers Confirm To Add Another Top Experienced Star

Rangers Add Garabito, Designate Anderson for Assignment

The Texas Rangers have announced the addition of pitcher Gerson Garabito, who will start today’s game. To accommodate Garabito on both the active and 40-man rosters, the Rangers have designated pitcher Shaun Anderson for assignment.

 Gerson Garabito’s Background

Garabito, a 28-year-old pitcher, is familiar to the Rangers from his time with the Kansas City Royals, who share a spring training facility with the Rangers in Surprise. He played for the Royals from 2013 to 2019. After an average 2021 season with the San Francisco Giants’ AA and AAA teams, Garabito was out of affiliated baseball until the Rangers signed him this year. In 30 innings across seven appearances with Frisco and Round Rock, he has posted an impressive 2.05 ERA.

Major League Debut and Future Roster Moves

Garabito is making his major league debut today, but his stay on the active roster is expected to be short-lived as Nathan Eovaldi and Jon Gray are due to return soon. Once they are back, Garabito can be optioned without requiring an immediate 40-man roster adjustment.

Shaun Anderson’s Role

Shaun Anderson was at Round Rock primarily as a depth option, ready to provide innings in the major league bullpen when needed. His designation for assignment means he will be waived, making room for Garabito on the roster as the team manages its pitching staff.
