Washington Commanders Kicker Brandon McManus Accused of Sexual Assault

New Washington Commanders kicker Brandon McManus is facing accusations of sexually assaulting two women during a flight to London last season. McManus, who joined the Commanders earlier this spring, may have a short tenure with the team.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the accusations stem from an incident during a flight from the United States to London last year, where McManus allegedly assaulted two women. The lawsuit names the Jacksonville Jaguars, McManus’ former team, as a defendant. Despite the serious nature of the allegations, no criminal charges have been filed against McManus.

The Washington Commanders released a statement acknowledging the civil lawsuit filed on May 24, stating, “We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter. We have been in communication with the League Office and Brandon’s representation, and will reserve further comment at this time.”

McManus began his NFL career with the Denver Broncos in 2014. The Temple University alumnus has made 81.4% of his field goal attempts. Last season, he converted 30 out of 37 field goal attempts for the Jaguars before signing with Washington this spring.
