Good News: Just In Cleveland Browns Confirm Another Perfect Addition To Squad

Browns RB Nyheim Hines Targeting Training Camp Return**

Nyheim Hines, who missed the entire 2023 season due to an ACL tear from a jet ski accident, aims to return for training camp. This injury affected his free agent value, leading him to sign a one-year deal with the Browns worth up to $3.5 million. This deal gives Hines a chance to showcase his special teams skills, particularly if new kickoff rules increase return opportunities. Although Hines has been absent from the Browns’ OTAs as he rehabs his knee, he is on track for recovery. He anticipates being ready by training camp.

“I should be ready to go for minicamp,” said Hines. “The goal is to be ready around August 1 or the end of July, depending on my leg. But the goal is to be out there for Week 1.”

Hines, 27, has never logged more than 89 carries in a season but has proven effective in a pass-catching role, with 240 career receptions. This number could rise if he secures an offensive role in Cleveland. With Nick Chubb, who is recovering from a major knee injury, at the top of the depth chart, Hines could serve as a third-down specialist. Chubb is expected to return in 2024.

Even after Chubb’s return, Hines should have a chance to contribute significantly. Hines cited the presence of Browns offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, previously with the Bills, as a reason for choosing Cleveland. The team’s recent turnover in returners also influenced his decision, and excelling in this role will boost his value next offseason.

While Hines and Chubb rehab, Jerome Ford, D’Onta Foreman, and Pierre Strong Jr. will be available in the backfield. If Hines is ready for Week 1, he is expected to play a significant role until Chubb returns.
