Official LSU football News : Just In Tigers Confirm To Add Another Top Talented Star To Roster

**FOOTBALL: LSU Football Transfer Portal: Tigers Add Former Conference-USA Special Teams Veteran**

The Tigers have bolstered their 2024 football roster with the addition of former Louisiana Tech punter Blake Ochsendorf, a move that addresses one of their key concerns on special teams. Coach Brian Kelly and his team have been relatively quiet in the spring transfer portal, but this latest acquisition marks a significant development for LSU.

Ochsendorf’s journey began at Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2018, where he punted 127 times for 4,779 yards, with a long of 68 yards over two years. He then transferred to Eastern Michigan University for three seasons before joining Louisiana Tech in 2023. At Louisiana Tech, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound punter from Savage, MN, excelled, earning First-Team All-C-USA recognition. He punted 53 times, with 17 punts exceeding 50 yards, and achieved a season average of 45.7 yards per punt. He also set the program record for career punting average and logged the eighth-longest punt in school history with a 70-yard boot against Jacksonville State.

This addition comes amid uncertainty regarding the punter position for LSU. Current projected starter Peyton Todd, despite having the necessary skills, has not yet secured his role definitively, as highlighted by inconsistent performances during spring practice. Coach Kelly expressed his dissatisfaction following the 2024 National L-Club Spring Game, noting Todd’s lack of consistency.

With Ochsendorf joining the roster, a competitive battle for the starting punter position is expected this summer. Todd, who has been the backup to Jay Bramblett for the past two seasons, was initially seen as the clear choice for the starting role. However, Coach Kelly’s recent moves suggest a more competitive scenario as the new season approaches.
