Minnesota Vikings Re-Sign Dalton Risner
The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed left guard Dalton Risner, who played the position for most of last year and expressed a strong desire to return for another season. Initially, it seemed unlikely that Risner would come back as the Vikings showed little interest in negotiating a contract, despite Risner switching agents to Drew Rosenhaus.
However, things took a turn on Wednesday when it was announced that Risner would indeed return to Minnesota on a one-year deal. While Risner has yet to secure a long-term contract that would solidify his position on the offensive line, this deal allows him another opportunity to prove his worth.
Risner and his family are pleased to stay in Minnesota, avoiding a second move in two years. For the Vikings, re-signing Risner means retaining a veteran leader and enhancing their offensive line.
Blake Brandel, who had been covering the left guard spot and signed a high-value extension earlier this offseason, will likely revert to his role as a versatile backup.
