Vikings Sign Guard Dalton Risner**
The Vikings announced on Friday that they have signed guard Dalton Risner to a one-year contract, bringing the veteran back to Minnesota.
To accommodate Risner on the 53-man roster, the Vikings waived undrafted rookie offensive lineman Matt Cindric.
Risner initially joined the Vikings in September 2023 on a one-year deal. He made his debut on special teams in Week 3 against the Chargers and continued in that role for the next two weeks. He was then called to action at left guard in Week 6 after Ezra Cleveland was injured during the game against Chicago.
A Kansas State alumnus, Risner started the last 11 games of the season for Minnesota. Subsequently, the Vikings traded Cleveland to Jacksonville for a sixth-round pick, which they used to draft tackle Walter Rouse at No. 177 overall in April.
Prior to joining the Vikings, Risner played for the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2022, starting all 62 games he participated in.
During the Vikings’ Organized Team Activity practices, versatile veteran Blake Brandel initially played left guard with the first-team lineup, which included LT Christian Darrisaw, C Garrett Bradbury, RG Ed Ingram, and RT Brian O’Neill. In this week’s media-open session, veteran Dan Feeney took some first-team reps at left guard.
