Vols football News: Tennessee Volunteers Star Now Compared To Top Experienced NFL Star Following What He Did

Tennessee Freshman Jordan Ross Compared to NFL Player**

Tennessee football’s true freshman, Jordan Ross, has drawn comparisons to a current NFL player from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Several members of the Tennessee Volunteers’ 2024 recruiting class aim to make an impact in their debut collegiate season, with edge rusher Jordan Ross being a standout. He is expected to pair well with James Pearce Jr., already a college football star. Despite not yet playing a college game, Ross is being likened to an NFL player.

Grant Hughes from 247 Sports compiled a list of NFL comparisons for top incoming freshmen, including Ross. He compared Ross to Randy Gregory of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hughes noted:

“Ross showcased exceptional athleticism as a 3-4 standup outside linebacker during his prolific career at Vestavia Hills (Ala.). He possesses Gregory’s frame and athleticism without the troubled past and could climb the Volunteers’ depth chart quickly. He has the potential to become one of the most prolific pass rushers early in his development and is seen as a future first-round NFL Draft pick, according to national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna.”

Ross’s recruitment was highly competitive, with Tennessee battling top programs like Texas and Alabama until he committed to the Volunteers in August 2023 and signed in December. He will enroll this summer, with hopes of making an immediate impact.
