Miami Marlins Acquire South Florida Native Pitcher in Trade with Texas Rangers**

On Thursday, the Miami Marlins acquired right-handed pitcher Shaun Anderson from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations. Anderson has been assigned to Triple-A Jacksonville. The Rangers had designated him for assignment on Sunday.

Anderson, 29, hails from Coral Springs and played high school baseball at Plantation American Heritage before attending the University of Florida. He has made 65 MLB appearances (16 starts) since his debut in 2019, posting a 3-5 record with a 5.83 ERA.

Initially a starter, he transitioned to the bullpen in 2020. This season, he made two relief appearances for the Rangers, allowing two runs over 3 1/3 innings, with three strikeouts and one walk. At Triple-A Round Rock, he achieved a 3-0 record with a 2.53 ERA (six earned runs in 21 1/3 innings), 22 strikeouts, and four walks in four starts.

The Marlins are the sixth MLB team for Anderson, who has previously played for the San Francisco Giants (2019-2020), Minnesota Twins (2021), Baltimore Orioles (2021), San Diego Padres (2021), Toronto Blue Jays (2022), and Rangers (2024). Drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft, he was traded to San Francisco in July 2017. To make room for Anderson on the 40-man roster, the Marlins designated right-handed pitcher Woo-Suk Go for assignment. Go was one of the players acquired in the Luis Arraez trade with the Padres.
