Good News: Atlanta Braves Finally Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Star To Replace Ronaldo Acuna Jr

Braves place infielder Tyler Matzek on a 60-day injured list.
Infielder Brian Anderson has been signed by the Braves to a major-league deal, according to the team’s official X/Twitter account. He’ll be added to the active roster. Tyler Matzek has also been moved from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list in order to create space on the 40-man roster.

Given that he played for the Miami Marlins for the first six years of his career, Braves fans should be familiar with this mediocre player. His bat has a little pop, and he can cover ground at several spots, including outfield.

2019 saw Anderson have his greatest season yet with The Fish, with 33 doubles, 20 home runs, and an OPS of.811. With the Milwaukee Brewers, he hit nine home runs and finished with an.698 OPS in 96 games last season. He provides valuable depth to a club that was in need of it because of several injuries.

The decision to place Tyler Matzek on the 60-day injured list, though, is the one that Braves Nation will be watching closely. Regretfully, it appears that the club had no choice except to assign him or carry out this action. The Braves just have too many excellent alternatives for a bullpen, and Matzek hasn’t been the same since he helped lead the Braves to the World Series in 2021. After multiple shoulder injuries, he had Tommy John surgery at the conclusion of the 2022 campaign.

Tyler Matzek has made 11 appearances so far this season and has a 9.90 ERA. He appears to be a shell of the pitcher he once was on the mound and has lost several miles per hour on his heater. The Braves are presumably hoping for some favorable changes, which we might see with more rest and recuperation.

But it does feel like Tyler Matzek’s time in Atlanta may be coming to an end. It’s a sad turn of circumstances because he seems to have given it everything he had throughout that 2021 World Series run. But for all eternity, Braves Country will revere him as a legend as a result of that.
