Latest Vols News: Tennessee Volunteers Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Talented Star

**Josh Heupel and Tennessee football strengthened their roster for the 2024 season through the transfer portal.**

The Vols not only added depth but also future starters and playmakers. 247 Sports compiled an All-Transfer Team featuring top talent who switched programs during the winter or spring transfer windows. This team includes the best portal player at each position for the upcoming season.

After former Tennessee offensive tackle Gerald Mincey transferred to Kentucky post-2023 season, the Vols sought a replacement through the portal. They secured former LSU tackle Lance Heard, a four-star transfer, in January.

Heard, one of the top linemen in the portal, earned a spot on 247’s All-Transfer Team as one of the two offensive tackles, alongside Missouri’s Cayden Green. At LSU, Heard quickly earned playing time, appearing in 12 games and not allowing a single sack in 195 snaps. With three years of eligibility remaining, Heard is set to be a starter for the Vols and a key player for their offense.

For redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava, a solid offensive line is crucial for Tennessee’s hopes of reaching the expanded College Football Playoff. Heard’s addition bolsters the offensive line, making it one of the best in the conference for the 2024 season.
