Vikings Veteran Reportedly Changing Positions
The Minnesota Vikings are set to look different this coming season, with several significant changes to their lineup.
The most notable change is at quarterback, as veteran Kirk Cousins departed in free agency, and the team drafted J.J. McCarthy from the University of Michigan.
Additionally, the Vikings lost star pass rusher Danielle Hunter but added linebacker Jonathan Greenard and running back Aaron Jones.
In another shift, N’Keal Harry will move from wide receiver to tight end, according to JPAFootball. Harry joined the Vikings as a free agent last August and has mostly been part of their practice squad over the past 10 months. He appeared in nine games in 2023 but did not record any receptions. His best season was in 2020 with the New England Patriots, where he had 33 catches for 309 yards and two touchdowns.
The Vikings have one of the NFL’s top tight ends in T.J. Hockenson, who logged 95 receptions, 960 yards, and five touchdowns last year, though they lack depth behind him. The team also recently extended star wide receiver Justin Jefferson’s contract and saw strong performances from rookie wideout Jordan Addison.
If McCarthy proves to be a legitimate franchise quarterback, the Vikings could surprise many this season with their offensive talent. However, it’s uncertain if McCarthy will be the starter in Week 1, indicating the team has some decisions to make before planning a playoff return.
