Instead, John Emery Jr., a five-star prospect in the past who transferred to LSU in April, will play his last season with the Tigers.
The LSU alumnus Emery declared his choice on Friday on Instagram, writing, “I’m staying home.” The No. 11-ranked player from Destrehan, Louisiana, has 1,062 career running yards and 14 touchdowns with LSU. He has appeared in 37 games and started five of them.
Emery supported Logan Diggs and other players in seven of LSU’s previous games. After recording 75 carries in 2020 and 76 in 2022, he had academic concerns that kept him out of the 2021 season entirely.
Josh Williams, a veteran, and Kaleb Williams, a promising sophomore, are back at LSU. However, Diggs, the team’s top rusher and Heisman Trophy winner, transferred to Ole Miss, while quarterback Jayden Daniels joined the NFL.
