Stefon Diggs Opens Up on Trade from Bills to Texans
Stefon Diggs has found a new home with the Houston Texans after months of rumors about his dissatisfaction with the Buffalo Bills. The star wide receiver was indeed traded during the offseason and is now set to play alongside rising quarterback CJ Stroud as he chases his first championship ring.
In a recent interview, Diggs described the trade to the Texans as a “breath of fresh air,” according to DJ Bien-Aimé of ESPN. Diggs expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he received from the Texans organization, saying, “They’re very welcoming, very open arms, and I just feel like it’s important for me to be a part of things like that. It’s genuine. You thrive in that space where you’re loved and around those who truly care and want to see you win.”
CJ Stroud also commented on Diggs’ arrival, noting the leadership role Diggs has embraced since joining the team. Stroud praised Diggs’ unselfish attitude and his desire to be surrounded by other talented players, saying, “Diggs has come in and been a leader, just really unselfish and wanting to see other guys eat. He wanted to be around other dogs, and he’s stepped into that role. He’s been nothing but amazing so far, and I am very excited to work with him.”
The success of the Stroud-Diggs partnership remains to be seen. The Texans hope that pairing Stroud with an elite receiver like Diggs will elevate the team, similar to how elite QB-WR duos have boosted other NFL teams. Unlike Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts, who had significant struggles before receiving top wideouts, Stroud had a stellar rookie season, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and even being considered in MVP discussions.
However, translating potential into on-field success is the real challenge. The Texans must find a way to integrate Diggs without diminishing the contributions of other key players. Despite this challenge, Houston is optimistic about the impact Diggs will have on their pursuit of success in the 2024 season.
