Sad News ESPN Report: Dallas Mavericks Confirm To Loose Another Top Experienced Star

Mavericks Star Luka Doncic Downgraded to Questionable for Game 2

All-NBA Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday night’s Game 2 of the NBA Finals, according to Brian Robb of MassLive.com. Previously listed as probable despite ankle and knee injuries, Doncic now faces a potential thoracic contusion that might keep Dallas’ best player out of the game against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics lead the series 1-0 after a decisive 107-89 victory on Thursday.

Despite a knee sprain, Doncic scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Game 1 loss, although he managed only one assist. Jared Weiss of The Athletic noted that Doncic appeared to be struggling with his torso during Saturday’s team workouts. However, Marc Stein reports that sources indicate the 6-foot-7 star plans to play through the new injury.

Throughout 18 healthy playoff games, Doncic has averaged 28.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, with shooting splits of .440/.343/.791. The 25-year-old is making his first NBA Finals appearance.

If Doncic is unable to play, the Mavericks are expected to increase the roles of reserve guards Jaden Hardy, Josh Green, and Dante Exum while relying more on eight-time All-Star guard Kyrie Irving to lead the offense.
